East Ivanhoe Preschool is a community kindergarten that has been providing a wonderful learning environment for children since 1958.
Our program is inspired by the fundamental principles of the Reggio Emilia philosophy. It might take a village to raise a child, but it took the East Ivanhoe Community ten years of fundraising before they could start building our Preschool on King Street. The original building is still the foundation of our preschool, but there have been many improvements and alterations made during the past fifty eight years, which has only been possible through the generosity of past parents and local businesses.
N.B - Please call YMCA Ballarat on 4311 1534 or Banyule Council on 9490 4222 for all enrolment enquiries. Please do not call the Kindergarten directly. As of 2022 there are some changes taking place to enrolments for Three and Four year old Kinder. This means that you will no longer be able to apply for a Second year of Three year old Kindergarten from 2023.
Early childhood learning theorists acknowledge the necessity of a child-based learning environment, therefore the learning experiences that make up the program are all based on play and the concept that children are much more receptive to learning when it has purpose and is meaningful and relevant to children.
Please note: Due to the risk of anaphylaxis we request that you do not bring any foods containing nuts or whole eggs. Please note that exclusion foods may change should a child present with an allergy that is not listed. Kindergarten bag - to transport paintings and other work home, preferably one, which they can open and close themselves.
Once you receive a position at East Ivanhoe Preschool, YMCA will contact you (in the coming months) in regards to your child's position. Please allow some time for all positions to be accepted. You will be given a choice of group. Further information will come from YMCA in the coming months.
