Rio Dance Studio was established in 1981 by Fabian Gheri and Maureen DeLacy (hostess of the popular ABC TV show That's Dancin') making us one of the longest running dance studios' in Australia. Since 2000 the studio has been under the guidance of Mario Raiti who brings over 30 years of industry experience and is dedicated to making dance accessible to beginners.

My name is Mario Raiti and as both owner and dance teacher I'm passionate about making dance accessible to everyone regardless of age, experience or ability. From humble beginnings Rio has grown to become the market leader of social ballroom classes in Australia. Having worked closely with Maureen and Fabian for 10 years, I bought into the business in 2000.
At Rio Dance Studio we recognise that each Wedding is unique, so offering you a Free Trial Lesson not only gives you the opportunity to try us out but also allows us to get to know you and discuss your personal needs. Whether it's a simple wedding dance or an elaborate routine, we are here to listen and help you format your first step onto the dance floor as husband and wife.
Teachers at Rio Dance Studio have met all government requirements and hold a current Working with Children Check Card issued by the Department of Justice & Regulation, Victoria. Introducing your children to dance, especially at a young age, has a variety of health, physical and mental benefits. Dancing is an aerobic form of exercise.
Rio Dance Studio offers a variety of Group Classes from Beginner Level to Advanced. You don't need a partner to join our classes. We rotate people around so everyone has a chance to partner and learn. If you've joined with your own partner you may choose to rotate of stay with your partner. Group classes are a great way to meet new people and make new dancing friends.
Learning on your own? Don't worry you don't need a partner to learn to dance. Rio Dance Studio offers Individual Classes. These are Private Lessons and are booked by appointment. Your teacher will hop in and dance with you directly. Learning individually with private tuition means we can work at your personal rate of learning, be it fast or slow.

Foxtrot, Rumba, Waltz, Cha Cha, Tango, Salsa, Mambo, and Jive. Rio Dance Studio taught me each in turn. Five weeks of lessons, five days a week + all for $50 AUD. Good price, great instructors.
I haven't been here since moving in 2017, but some of the basics I started there have carried with me. Keep dancing.

The teachers at Rio are patient, motivating and most of all caring. The atmosphere from when you walk in the door is amazing and you are made to feel that you are part of a big family. We have been attending Rio now for nearly two years and it is one of the best things we have done as a couple. Our dancing has Improved significantly and the social dances are a highlight in our calendar.

They played with my emotional romance side to earn revenue. Private lessons lasting 35 min. Fabian Gheri knew about this. Clear plastic dress with massive cleavage on a new private teacher was a way to turn me off and kick me out of the studio. The junior male teachers knew what they had done to me was wrong.

I started dancing at Rio over 10 years ago. At that time I could not even hear the beat in music. Since then I have not only learned to dance and done gradings to gold level, but dance has become a whole new part of my life. In fact, I have now bought my own dance studio and my lessons at Rio are now focused on training for teaching qualifications. I could only have done this if Rio provided excellent teaching. I have gone through 3 teachers and each of them has indeed been excellent. The fact that Rio can employ teachers of such a high quality is the reason why this is the place for you to learn

Being a male I was a bit apprehensive about going to dance studio with my fiancé however Rio Dance Studio was so welcoming and patient with new customers very professional and friendly and defiantly recommend Mario and staff to for all ages, will be coming back regularly thoroughly enjoyed my experience

I have attended a number of dance studios over the years and have found Rio to be one of the best. Their teachers are excellent-well trained and very particular about installing the correct and thorough… technique, but at the same time, keeping the fun, social component. I loved the medal and competition night and was impressed with the standard. If you want a social dance studio who provides many social options, while at the same time, don't compromise on the quality of the teaching, you will love Rio.
