Diakosmos Dance Academy established by Dianne De Battista in 2001, located in Thornbury, Melbourne. Services
In 2001, the Diakosmos School of Contemporary Dance was formed, now Diakosmos Dance Academy. The focus of the school is to provide a platform for Dianne to teach children dance. Inspired by her time in New York, as a dancer and performer and in Melbourne as a choreographer and teacher, she has spent the past 30 years developing dance curriculum.
Our teachers are professional and appropriately experienced performing artists and educator. Olivia is a Melbourne based musician and vocal teacher in her final year of a Bachelor of Music (Jazz Voice) at Monash University. Olivia was awarded the prestigious 'Monash University Jazz Music Scholarship' at the beginning of 2018, upon entry into her course.
That was a really amazing show. You did a fantastic job with the choreography. Everything just flowed wonderfully. The integration of the littlies and the special needs kids was done superbly. The concert is always good, but this year it just reached a whole new level! Congratulations on pulling together a really fantastic evening.
Diakosmos Dance Academy is proud of all our students and their personal successes. We would like to proudly acknowledge and congratulate those students who participated in Ballet Exams, Dance competitions and our Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) students. During the past four years since Diakosmos introduced Ballet Exams and Dance Competitions our students have gained excellent results and continue to reach high standards.
Diakosmos Dance Academy provides young dancers with the opportunity to experience a diverse range of dance genres for both recreational and professional needs. Our classes include Contemporary, Ballet, Character, Body Conditioning, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, Pre-school Dance and VCE Dance and VCE VET Dance.

My daughter and I couldn't be happier with Diakosmos! All of the teachers and staff are so friendly and nurturing. The Diakosmos team have allowed my daughter to expand her level of understanding of dance. She has improved so much since being with Diakosmos I can't thank the team enough! During lock down, Diakosmos has been great with making classes go ahead. It is something my daughter looks forward to. The team gives a lot of one on one attention to each student which I think is great!

I am a student from Diakosmos Dance Academy and my experience here has been excellent. Dianne and the rest of the staff are amazing teachers who are inclusive and celebrate your achievements. I have learnt so much over the 4 years which I have trained at this school for, and the journey has been wonderful. The contemporary and ballet classes are exciting and fun!

My daughter who is 13 years old has attended Diakosmos Dance Academy since she was six years old. She currently attends classes in jazz, hip-hop, singing and musical theatre. She loves to dance and sing and Dianne the principal has been a wonderful teacher to have nurtured this passion in her. My daughter has special needs but this has never been a hindrance at this school as everyone is included, treated as equals and with respect. I believe that by being at this dance school has been the best decision I have made for my daughter and that the development and growth that she has had would not have

We love coming to Diakosmos Dance Academy. It's a very friendly place and has an intimate feel - there's no sense of being a number that is churned through en masse. The classes cater to each person's needs and abilities so if some need the extra challenge, there is scope for that, and if others need some extra coaxing along to catch up, that is provided too. Since my daughter began classes, three of her school friends have also joined and really enjoy it. The dance school is easy to access in a quiet, local street so parking is easy too!

Our weekly Tap lessons at Diakosmos Dance Academy are very exhilarating. My sister nor I have any prior Tap dancing experience.
We are learning dance skills in a relaxed environment with an accomplished and dedicated teacher.
Each student learns at their own pace which we find liberating, your expectations are your own.
Learning Tap dancing techniques is both challenging and relaxing, as we keep fit whilst having fun in a social setting.

My daughter with special needs loves to dance and we have finally found the perfect dance school for her. Dianne at Diakosimos Dance Academy runs a highly professional and inclusive dance school. This is a fabulous dance school. Dianne, the principal, is a dedicated, intelligent, passionate and extremely well trained woman, who lives and breathes the students and their development for many years. It has been wonderful for us to watch the children grow both as dancers and as young adults.
