We are situated in Apollo Bay which is halfway along the famed Great Ocean Road. The town itself is an unspoilt hamlet between Bass Strait and the Otway Ranges so there are beautiful views wherever you look. Nature features here with plentiful birds and wildlife both in town and the close surrounds.
There is even the occasional koala outside the front door. Within an hour's drive there are several waterfalls, the Otway Fly treetop walk and world class hikes of various categories. Captain's at the Bay has twelve rooms, mainly catering for couples but we do have two family rooms. We are a contemporary Bed and Breakfast (B&B) in Apollo Bay.

Captain's is the place to stay if you're visiting Apollo Bay. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and walking distance (less than 5 minutes) from the main street and beach. I also cannot speak highly enough of Anna and Duncan who are incredibly professional and kind people - I ran into some car trouble during my visit and they were beyond helpful, making what could have been a stressful situation just an unexpected and even pleasant delay in getting home!

Beautiful outlook and we’ll designed accommodation. I loved sitting in the bath with a glass of wine looking out over the bay. The staff here were really friendly and helpful with some tips and places to stop and see along the way and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. I recommend heading north and taking the time to visit the Californian Redwoods while you are here.

Had a lovely stay here for my birthday at the start of April. Hosts Anna and Duncan are very hospitable. Gave me a good run down of where to go, what to see and what to eat.
I stayed in the Queen bridge room which had a balcony and a feature bathtub in the middle of room. The room itself was very clean, modern and quite spacious.
I will be recommending this place to all my friends and family in the future. I will be also return in the near future.

We were very lucky to book 5 rooms at Easter for 3 nights for 10 people.
Hosts Duncan and Anna were very accomodating with friendly and helpful advice of where to go and where to eat in the area .
The rooms were very spacious and clean and we loved using our balcony.
Will definitely stay here again when returning to Apollo Bay

Have been to Apollo Bay numerous times and stayed at various motels/apartments. This was our first stay in The Loft at Captain's at the Bay. Absolutely loved the charm, cleanliness, location and quality amenities. The owners too were really helpful, friendly and professional.
The only recommendation is maybe a bit more lighting (a few strategically placed downlights perhaps), in the sitting, dining and tea/coffee nook areas are needed. This aside, we really enjoyed our stay here and Captain's at the Bay will definitely be our accommodation of choice next time we holiday in Apollo Bay.

It was a dark and stormy night, no, afternoon, that, after a harrowing few hours on the Great Ocean Road, I rolled Apollo Bay. It wasn't immediately evident how exactly to check in, but after shuffling around cars with another guest and making my way up to the front office, I found instructions for so-called late check-in (basically, after 5 or so), re-parked my car, and made my way to the unit.
The two-level, two-bedroom unit wasn't anything special, but it was clean and cute, albeit hot in the evening. Then again, I was more or less just in the market for a place to spend the night
