Kanela Flamenco Tapas Bar & Restaurant
We have been featured on Channel 9's Getaway and Postcards program as one of Melbourne's most dynamic and must visit places when in Melbourne. We look forward to having you visit us and experience first hand how we achieved this success. We take reservations for dinner in the restaurant. While bookings are highly recommended, patrons without a reservation can enjoy the full menu at the bar.

Kanela Bar offers full dining and bar packages to suit your special occasion. With the option of hiring out the entire venue for your event, we cater any cause worth celebrating! We can even arrange a pre-dinner Flameno dance class for your group to learn the basics of Flamenco before experiencing the live show!
Services
A performance where the journey will expose you to different styles of Spanish music, folklore, classical and flamenco. With significant pieces of composers such as Albeniz and vicente Amigo. The Journey will be directed by a musical trio composed by Violin (Sophie Dunn), Spanish guitar(Max Walker) and weekly guest dancers and musicians.
With challenging times ahead of us all, we at Kanela Bar would love to keep on sharing the love of music with all of you. Any support you would like to contribute, will go towards keeping live music venues alive!. For those of you who can not contribute with the fee, we hope that you enjoy the clips below and that it brings a smile to your face.
As we navigate through this crazy new world and come out on the other end, hopefully more concisely aware of the important things in life which before perhaps we did take a little for granted. Below you will find our new memberships for KANELA BAR. These memberships will help us relaunch when restrictions are eased.
Everyone values a great, useful pressie. We believe that no matter the occasion, our gift vouchers make the perfect gift for friends, family and colleagues. Take a trip to Spain and enjoy the full Kanela experience with our dinner and show package. Indulge in two courses of traditional Spanish tapas and Paella then top it of with the mind blowing Flamenco performance by Arte Kanela.

Booked for 2 people 3 course meal for $160 was a little expensive for what we got... we order a few drinks then of course we had some shots maybe 3- 4 shots we shouted the 2 singers one drink each then the bar staff started drinking shots and suddenly my bill was $650!! Had to get a cab left my jacket on my seat. Have rang their number 4 times and emailed them 3 times on wanting to know why the bill was so high and if I could retrieve my jacket to no response. Very disappointing and having bar staff charging their own drinks on my bill is out of order!

I don't recommend this restaurant. The food is expensive and the quality of the food is poor. If the quality was good I'm happy to pay for it, but this wasn't the case.
On the other side, I'm sorry, but I'm from Spain and what this restaurant offers is NOT Spanish food. If you want to enjoy Spanish food in Melbourne you shouldn't go here.
We ordered few tapas + paella and we didn´t enjoy any of the meals:
The paella rice was overcooked, the chorizo frito was dry, even the bread was dry...like when you open a packet of bread and you leave it in the kitchen for opened. Moreover, we ordered a

Such a great place with friendly staff. The food was nice, the sangria was great, and the show was awesome.
I would definitely come back here.
Really enjoyed myself at Kanela.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening out. Waiters were polite and very attentive. Food was good. There was so much we couldn't eat it all and had some put into takeaway. Drinks were good. I ordered several margaritas. Entertainment was high quality. Violinist, guitarist and beautiful flamenco dancer. It was a shame there were not more people there to enjoy this. Johnson St used to be a bustling Spanish hub. This is about the last Spanish restaurant left there. If people don't support this worthwhile family business it won't continue. Price of $85 per head was cheap when one considers that you are

Do not go there, you will regret it.
Don’t even worth 1 star
To be honest, it was an absolute disaster. The owner/Manager, she is so rude after reading her replies on one of my friend post. Totally agree with my friend not worthy at all.
I book a dinner for 6 adults and 1 kid online, then call the Manager and arrange to have the dietary requirements for my 2 guests. Spoke to her on the phone she was nice, even I was told that it is very busy and better to book now. Guess what. We arrived at the restaurant, no acknowledgement from her, neither from the waiters. The bartender greet us and advise

Lovely food, fast and friendly service, very reasonable prices and good serving sizes for tapas. Have to go back to try the paella.
Shame the seating sessions are timed - Fri and Sat night flamenco for an extra charge. Cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Churros are nice, but have had better. Chocolate mud cake was divine but I suspect microwaved. Flan was yummy as.

Went there with my boyfriend during our weekend in Melbourne. The Flamenco show was amazing and hypnotic. Really talented musicians and dancers. The food was a bit pricey but the paella was delicious!!!!!!!! I dream about this paella! Really recommend that place.

Everything was going great until two of the staff started loudly commenting in Spanish whether my partner is male or female... Maybe staff should try to gossip in a different area or try not to speak loudly in Spanish as if we couldn't understand. I am Spanish but pass as Australian which is why they probably did such a thing but just a heads up it was super rude!!!!! food was pretty good though nonetheless.

Do you have a girlfriend who is always hassling you to go to dance class with her? Or maybe you just enjoy a good time? Either way, you can't go wrong with checking Kanela out on a Friday or Saturday night. This Spanish Tapas bar has live flamenco performances every weekend that are surpassed by none. With live Spanish guitar, an old grandad singing traditional Spanish music and a beautiful lady dancing her heart out in a flowing red dress, you just can't go wrong for free entertainment. In fact it is spectacular!

I really can't recommend enough heading to Kanela for a jug of Sangria
