Services
Jack has an extremely friendly and practical approach to veterinary practice. Although Dr Zaks is not a registered specialist, he has a key interest in dermatology (skin conditions), arthritis and orthopaedics. Through careful history taking and extensive clinical examinations, Dr Zaks has been able to solve most of the difficult skin, ear and arthritic cases presented to him.
Vaccination has revolutionised control of infectious disease in our pets. It is essential that all pets are adequately vaccinated to help protect the pet population as a whole. Responsible pet care requires kittens to be given their initial course of vaccinations, but this cannot protect them for the rest of their lives.
Clinical pathology involves the laboratory evaluation of blood, fluids or body tissues in order to identify existing disease. Common laboratory tests include blood chemistries, complete blood counts, blood clotting times, urinalysis, faecal tests, biopsy examination, cultures and infectious disease testing.
Dentistry is a rapidly growing area of veterinary science. We have seen a greater awareness over the last 25 years of its importance to the overall health of the animals we treat. Just like humans, pets' teeth need looking after too! The health of their teeth and gum's has a significant impact on their overall quality of life.
Desexing or neutering your pet is a surgical procedure that prevents them from being able to reproduce. In male pets it is commonly referred to as "castration", and in female pets as "spaying".This is the most frequent surgery performed by our vets, and generally your pet is home by the evening of surgery.

No words can describe how wonderful Dr Jack Zaks is with his patients. He has a genuine empathy for both the animals under his care and their owners. We have had several opportunities to experience his care at regular check-ups and the occasional unexpected illnesses and every time he has been thorough in his assessment and treatment of our dog. Such a fantastic Dr and his staff are all great too.

We moved to Elsternwick recently. Our cat Luka was missing for 3 days. When we found him he had been hit by a car and we needed a new vet. We found Elsternwick Vet Clinic through Yelp and took him there. Luckily they are open on Sundays. The staff is awesome and so friendly. Dr Jack fixed his broken leg and it healed amazingly. The prices are very reasonable. Well done!
