The Windsor is Australia's most loved and renowned grand hotel, pre-dating The Savoy in London, The Plaza and The Waldorf Astoria in New York, The Ritz in Paris, and Raffles Hotel in Singapore. Established in 1883, it combines the classic beauty and architecture of the Victorian age with the graciousness of that bygone era.
In accordance with the latest updates in Victoria, we will be closed until the Victorian lockdown lifts. Payment: Credit card details are required to confirm your booking. Payment can be made on the day. Please note that there is a credit card processing fee of 1.3% (MasterCard and Visa) or 1.76% (American Express).
One Eleven, The Windsor's dining room, presently serves a daily breakfast and Afternoon Tea from Thursday to Sunday. Breakfast and Afternoon Tea are also offered as part of our in-room dining service for accommodation guests. Lunch and dinner can be had at the historic Cricketers Bar, overlooking historic Parliament House on Spring Street.

$1000 for two nights of okay accommodation.
There are always compromises with any building this old so none of my review will be about that.
The bathrooms were clearly updated in the 80’s and never since. I’m 6’6 and and wide, but I’m not even close to the widest person around and I couldn’t fit in the shower (which was in a bath) and the services were so old they were not nice (toilet seat was yuck and taps grimy)
One of our towels had a brown stain on it that looked revolting, it wasn’t a small stain so would have been very noticeable to cleaning staff.
Our room was turned down

My friends and l had a high tea to celebrate my upcoming birthday. The staff were all lovely making sure everything was perfect. The dietary requirements of my friend were addressed and her choice of food was amazing. Thank you for making the day something to remember even going as far as giving me a little cake with happy birthday written in chocolate on the plate. Truly a lovely place to spend a couple of hours with friends and family

We booked a Victorian suite and another king sized room for 6 nights. The Victorian suite was tired with smelling carpets, furniture with paint on (that tainted our clothes), no smart TV to connect to Netflix or Fox sports, we are watching the cricket test and the TV quality reminded me of 1980’s. It seems that the hotel owners have not spend anything on maintaining the property. It’s a beautiful structure that should be protected by the heritage society but it’s been left out to rot. Disappointing.

A true treasure of Melbourne city. The grand Victorian hotel is beautiful and the service in here is excellent. The bellhops and front desk staff are all exceedingly polite and courteous and very attentive to the needs of their customers. The room service is top notch, and you will always return to rooms with crisp, clean sheets, and a sparkling bathroom. A beautiful choice for a holiday on special occasions or getaways!
I definitely recommend the high tea and breakfast packages, you’ll be back for more because there isn’t enough to go through in a week!

Grand Old Dame Proves a Fabulous City Escape!
What a thoughtful and rewarding gift certificate for a night at The Windsor Hotel proved to be. From reservation, through check-in and stay, to our departure, we were treated with such welcoming old-world charm it made us envy the chap who used to live in its tower. Indeed, my gorgeous partner decided that, when he wins lotto, he’s renting a room with a view there for the year… so he can move in and stay as he pleases! What a wonderful, classy hotel the Windsor is. Our family had a staycation here and we loved it. The service was excellent, we felt a personal warmth that we never felt in any other hotel. The rooms were charming yet modern - I love the showers especially!
The afternoon high tea is a must - I can see why it’s the most famous in Melbourne. Accompanied by perfectly brewed tea, there was more food than we could finish. It was a great experience celebrating a birthday.
Big shout out to Mr Ali at concierge who was so welcoming to us. We would love to go back and can understand why people stay in
