Civic Hotel is an iconic Sydney pub located in heart of Sydney CBD. Civic Hotel, built in 1940, is proud of its heritage as a grand art deco architectural tribute to the Hotel industry. Masterfully combining art deco elements of space and volume, extensive use of windows and natural light, glass blocks and indirect lighting were employed in the creation of the venue, which resulted in the heritage classification of the building.

Civic Underground Report

Civic Underground, formerly known as the Civic Theatre, is Sydney's premier boutique entertainment venue. The venue has a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere with a strip of red light lines the bar, casting red hues onto a row of spacious white booths. The ceiling is illuminated by 26 LED square panels which continuously changes colour, further enhancing the club's already sensual and seductive surrounding.

Wonderful old-style (Art Deco) hotel/pub in the heart of the CBD. Good drink and food menus, all very reasonably priced. Friendly and helpful staff make for an all-round enjoyable venue! Highly recommended.

Drinks were over priced , stale wine left a bad taste . Then ordered a ceaser salad w/chicken grrr the chicken was absolutely covered in chilli and inedible. The seafood pasta is that overdone with chilli also , so unless you want to sit on the toilet all night I recommend eating somewhere else!! 1☆

This pub is great for lunch or dinner! Meet friends or even spend some time unwinding. The staff are friendly and attentive. The venuecannget very loud at times but only towards the late hours of the day from 6pm. Value for money bistro serving up some food with standard and made with some love. Must see if you are new in town.

Wow! THIS PLACE HAS IT ALL! The bistro is amazing, fresh delicious food served with a side of customer service that is evident! Attentive staff and Australia’s largest international wines, beer, spirits to wash all that delicious food down!
You feel at home when you step into this venue with a history dating back to 1940. You can’t but feel as if you’ve stepped into an amazing place with experience and vibe. A job well done!

Went to see a friend play here, in the Underground. What a great venue - it's cozy but not too small, has it's own bar, booths, a dance floor and lots of mirror balls. Would be a really great place for a party when we can safely do that again.💃 (Longing sigh!)
