The Ivanhoe East Vet Hospital, headed up by founder Dr. Robert Gropel, is a purpose built veterinary hospital offering a complete range of services for your loved one. Our dedicated and caring team have the accreditation and expertise to ensure the highest standard of care possible. Our staff are committed to animal welfare and you can rest assured your pet is safe with us; most of our staff are vegan.
We provide an extensive range of services from general practice, advanced surgery, cancer care, overnight hospitalisation through to cat boarding, grooming, kitten adoption, and dietary specific pet food. House calls are available by pre-arranged appointment only. This may be preferred in the event you are unable to travel or your pet suffers severe anxiety coming to the vet clinic.

I was charged and my cat was given treatment that I did NOT consent to.
I explicitly stated not to do something, and the vet went ahead and did it anyway... and then charged me for it. I was very distressed for the rest of the week about this!
I wanted to believe in the quality of this practice, and that this was a one-off, but have since heard from a former employee that Rob's priorities are money-focused rather than ethics, and that many animals end up having to be euthanised here!!

Dr Rob and his team have been providing first class care for our troublesome labrador Riggins for the past 6 years. There have been numerous out of hours treatments and surgeries. Ivanhoe East Vet Clinic's care and compassion is second to none. I have recommended numerous friends to Dr Rob and they always tell me how impressed they have been. On several occasions Dr Rob has suggested alternative less evasive options. I strongly recommend the clinic.

Dr Rob is the most amazing vet. He continuously shows compassion, empathy and great care. My fur-babies Coco & Sienna are always taken care of with such professionalism and love. I have witnessed such a huge improvement with the health of my dogs since seeing Dr Rob.

Dr Rob supported us throughout the hardest part of pet ownership, saying goodbye to our beloved Bella of 15years. Rob was COMPLETELY passionate about providing the best possible outcome for Bella and helped us explore every possible treatment to delay the inevitable. But, unfortunately her liver tumor ruptured it and nothing more could be done.
Bella had been battling cancer for years, having multiple lumps (over 14) removed from another IVANHOE VET (NOT DR ROB or his clinic) we were told she was in "good health" despite the fact they didn't even take any scans or stop when the blood test indicated

My first time taking my dog to the vet, and I couldn’t be any more happier. Dr. Rob and his team made me feel very comfortable.

I took my dog there recently after a recommendation by a close family member. My dog was there for a dental check-up, clean and scale. Dr. Rob was extremely friendly and explained the procedure and what to expect wonderfully. The clinic is much more reasonably priced than many other clinics and the staff was very conscious of costs when making treatment plan recommendations. All in all, I had a very pleasant experience and will be taking my dog there again in the future.
