Yandell Kindergarten practices the principles given to us by philosopher Rudolf Steiner (born in Austria in 1861). He believed the pre-school years to be most important of all in the education of children, and that careful thought must be given to every aspect of physical and human influences. Every impression received in these early years has the potential to influence future health and well-being.
Here at Yandell Kindergarten, we strive to create a warm and nurturing environment which is un-rushed, holistic and hands on. We believe that children learn and develop best when they feel safe and secure and have the time to immerse themselves in play. This is why a large part of the day is devoted to free-play.

Services
At Yandell Kindergarten, parents are welcome and encouraged to become involved in a number of special events and celebrations within our kindergarten community. Festivals are held to mark each season at the end of each term and birthday celebrations are held for each child.
At the end of each term, we prepare for a festival in the kindergarten by making, baking, singing and moving in a special Festival Circle to share with the children's families during this special time.The term then ends joyfully with the celebration of such festivals as Autumn/Harvest, Winter, Spring and Advent.

By the time a child is three to four years old they will have explored, experimented and become very familiar with their corner of the world. They probably feel secure and confident with the people and places they now know through their toddler years. Now they are ready to strike out and become a 'person among people'.
The rhythm of the day is supported by verse, songs and blessings giving thanks to and acknowledgement of the gifts nature has provided for us. Circle time - finger plays, song and movement through imitation or birthday celebration (where appropriate). Enrolments for the three year old program in 2021 are administered by Yandell Kindergarten.

Indoor play and morning activity (including painting, milling grain, cooking, bread making, drawing, household activities and craft such as sewing, making pom-poms and felting).
Enrolments and allocations for four-year-old (Finches) kindergarten are administered by Banyule City Council. A Registration Form for 2021 can be submitted to Banyule Council now. A non-refundable processing fee is payable to Banyule City Council when submitting your form. Enrolments in 2021 for three-year-old (Fairy Wrens) kindergarten are administered by Yandell Kindergarten.
