Goes Green is an exciting initiative developed to save water, energy and money whilst improving your investment. In late 2006, Compton Green launched the Goes Green initiative. They began to analyse their own behaviour in terms of the environment; starting with paper recycling, they quickly progressed through all environmental issues at both their office and homes.
Property is Compton Green's business; they concentrated on water saving measures and other 'green' concerns, soon realising their research may help landlords (and subsequently, their tenants). By developing a simple check list and plan for improving the 'green' credentials of properties under management, real benefits have been created for all involved - landlords, tenants and our environment.

Services
As the instigators of Goes Green, Compton Green are always on the look out for environmentally sustainable ideas to help landlords and tenants. Linnet Good from ReNew magazine offers some advice. The President of the REIV, Adrian Jones has welcomed an innovative new program for rental accommodation that will be launched today by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Environment, Steve Herbert.
Let's direct our attention to landlords to make them aware of all the areas we can assist them in improving their homes. By alerting them to environmental issues affecting their investment properties in a simple and direct manner, Goes Green aims to help our environment, save money for the tenant and add value to our landlords investment.
Every time your Agent inspects a property to supply a Condition Report, they will add a simple one page Goes Green check list. The Goes Green report will be completed for all new tenancies and monthly inspections. Should the owner choose not to do any work, a copy of the form will be kept on file for future reference, with the opportunity to re-visit the check list in the future.
Simply put, this will save tens of thousands of litres of water, minimise land fill and save electricity. There is also a massive cost saving to the tenant under the 'user pay' system. Achievements (late 2009) 6 million litres of water saving since 'Goes Green's' inception. We see this as a marketing tool for future tenants who will be attracted to 'Goes Green' properties, saving them money and the environment.
