The wine displays citrus, tropical fruit, elderflower and herbaceous aromas followed by a palate with persistent fruit flavours, minerality and tingling citrusy acidity. Grapes sourced exclusively from our Uley vineyard at the northern end of the Piccadilly Valley. After crushing and gentle pressing, initial juice analysis showed a Baum of 13.0 degrees, pH 3.12 and titratable acid of 8.1 g/litre.
Only 20 minutes from the city centre, nestled in the stunning Piccadilly Valley of the Adelaide Hills, lies the Barratt Uley Vineyard and Cellar Door. Here, you can enjoy complimentary tastings of our current release wines, and make purchases by the glass or bottle. The Barratt Cellar Door is so much more than a 'wine tasting'.
The 25 acre property of Uley comprises 15 acres of vines, nine acres of bushland and 2 acres of stunning gardens - featuring a majestic tulip tree, claret ash, Japanese maples, silver birches, acers, dogwoods, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas, hydrangeas and more. Take an enchanting stroll around the garden when you come and visit us at cellar door.
Our cellar door will be open each weekend through the month of April including Easter Saturday and Sunday. Opening times are from 11am to 4pm. Still enjoying its youth, this wine is pale straw in colour with citrus, stone fruit, butterscotch, cashews and brioche dominating the nose and palate. Persistence yet freshness are features of the palate.
Lindsay was previously a Physician and retired entirely from Medicine in 2001 to realise his dream of handcrafting the wine from beginning to end - growing and caring for the vines (which he has done since 1990 when the Uley property was acquired) and, since 2001, taking the grapes through the process of specialised winemaking.
