Established in 1896, Horndale Distillery & Wine Cellars is one of the oldest vineyards/wineries in South Australia, owned and operated since 1984 by the Albrecht family. One acre of the original vineyard remains - planted with red Frontignac grapes. These grapes are used to make Horndale's feature wine Old Horndale Brandy Wood Frontignac.

In addition to this small crush, additional grapes are purchased from premium grape growing areas such as McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Phil & Nolleen Albrecht are the second generation owners with first gen'er, Jean, still happy to pour a sample for visitors and locals alike. Some of our great customers have expressed concern about the "For Sale" sign out on the street.

Beautiful red wines and delicious food. I had been wanting to visit this winery for many years since my friend gave me a few cases. I finally got to visit this weekend and loved it!

Visited the cellar door on a recommendation from a friend and wasn't disappointed. Greeted and looked after by Phil who provided great, friendly service. Tried a few of their liqueur tawny and bought the choc orange which was our favourite. Also picked up a few bottles of wine at a very reasonable price. A great experience - we'll be back.

Have not had the opportunity to visit this wonderful old family run winery since the 90s.
I'm happy to say that some things don't change and the tradition of this winery is being maintained by the next generation.
Great wines Phil your wife and mother make it an absolute pleasure to taste your magnificent wines.
Keep it up and thank you for maintaining a great tradition.

We have dinner here fairly often on their Friday nights. The waiters now know us by sight and even remember what we like despite only really dining there maybe once every 2 months. They always offer on the house port, and their prices for the large portioned meals are excellent. ALways enjoy dining here!

The friendliest winery I have ever visited. A great range of products for most tastes.
Phil organised fundraising bottling for two groups that I am associated with. The label design and the Port were well received.
Check the resturant our for Friday night meal's or for that special occasion.
