Located on the fringe of Surry Hills, Paddington and Darlinghurst, Crown St Women's Hospital was once the largest of several maternity hospitals in Sydney. The hospital was founded in 1893 by Dr James Graham, a Scottish born physician and Australian politician, who was the superintendent of the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and a lecturer at the University of Sydney.
Due to Dr Graham's influence, the hospital became a centre of excellence and a reputable teaching facility in Sydney. The centre provided teaching to women who had previously acted as midwives without any medical certification. Sir James Graham was knighted in 1901 for his contribution to medicine, the same year he also became the Mayor of Sydney.

Services
Crown St Medical Centre will primarily be a privately billing clinic and a $35 gap fee applies for GP standard consultations (after your Medicare rebate). Dr K Tewari, Dr Peter Thai & D S Malik bulk-bill all Medicare Card Holders between 10am-4pm on weekdays. Children 15yrs & Concession Card holders will be bulk-billed between 10am-4pm on weekdays with a booked appointment.
We provide antenatal shared care at Crown St Medical Centre. Antenatal shared care may be a good convenient option for you if you are pregnant. GPs that provide antenatal shared care have undertaken additional training in women's health and obstetrics. Our GPs work in collaboration with midwives and obstetricians at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Camperdown.
It is our pleasure to care for your child, from pregnancy, infancy, through to adolescence. We provide antenatal shared care, new born baby checks, and regular check-ups to monitor your child's growth and development. At Crown St Medical Centre, we can help answer any questions or concerns about your child's health and development, and we can continue to review them as they move into their teen years.
At Crown St Medical Centre (Surry Hills), all NSW Health routine childhood vaccines are available at the clinic. When scheduling your child for their routine immunisations, please contact our friendly reception team to schedule an appointment time with one of our doctors and a nurse. This is also a good opportunity to discuss with your doctor any concerns regarding your child's growth and development.
We provide general medical services to manage acute and chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and asthma. Our team are experienced in managing chronic diseases, and are able to co-ordinate your care with other allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, chiropractors, dietitians, exercise physiologists, osteopaths, podiatrists and psychologists.

If you’re looking for a shared care GP, do not visit Dr Sneha Kaushal, not only does she lack the right attitude for it, she also lacks basic knowledge and is negligent. I lost my son at 17 weeks pregnant due to incompetent cervix, a loss that could have been totally avoided if Dr Kaushal had paid attention to the three major indicators I had for this (lack of knowledge) or even simply followed NSW Health protocol and requested I have an ultrasound at 16 weeks with a cervical measurement (negligent). I found her to be unhelpful, disinterested and prone to gaslighting. I would hate another family

Great team of doctors and nurses!! Have visited multiple times during lockdown recently, and both the reception team and doctors have been great and tried to be as flexible or sympathetic when things can't be done (either here or because of reduction of services in the hospital) because of covid, which is understandable! Highly recommend

The worst experience I’ve ever had. Went to a gp here last week and dr Simon Howell recommended I do a few tests which I did at the clinic straight away. The doctor told me he would give me a call back on Monday regarding my results.
It’s been almost a week and I am still waiting for the call from the doctor. I contacted the clinic already 3-4 times and every time a lady on a phone says the same thing “we will pass your message to the doctor and he will decide whether to call you or not”.
What kind of service is that? I had to pay for the gp appointment + tests and now I am not even able

Had 945 appointment and at 1015 still had not been seen. Had to leave without being seen thankfully for a non-urgent issue.
Having said this, the service recovery from the lead GP following this was very good. I was able to see my regular doctor on time at a later date that worked.
Considering this medical centre does not bulk bill most patients, it would be good if the reception staff can be more proactive updating patients when doctors are running significantly behind schedule. Understand that these things can happen.
