Modern Pilates-Penny Latey
With roots firmly planted in classic Pilates we are dynamically evolving and incorporating recent musculo skeletal research findings. At Modern Pilates in Naremburn (5 mins walk from St Leonards Station), on Sydney's North Shore, we provide a modified version of the traditional Pilates Method. Our approach was developed by our Director, Penny Latey, who is an internationally recognised Pilates teacher.

We welcome anyone of any level of experience - from the average person seeking to improve their strength and fitness, to someone recovering from a severe injury or preparing for surgery. The Pilates we teach is based on a thorough understanding of exercise science and current research into movement ability and injury.
Services
Penny Latey is an internationally recognised Pilates teacher, renowned for her work updating and extending Joseph Pilates' original Method to make it more suitable for the general population. She is the Director and Senior Practitioner of Modern Pilates Studio, one of the foremost Pilates studios on Sydney's North Shore.
The Pilates Method is a form of exercise based around a series of physical movements designed to improve both health and fitness. Originally used by dancers for fitness and rehabilitation, it is now also a popular form of exercise in the wider community. Pilates is a system of mental and physical conditioning that connects and uses the whole body with the aim of improving fitness and sustaining well being.
Studio sessions have a maximum of 4 clients, and use the mats, reformer beds, trap tables and pilates equipment. Book online here. Clients who attend our studio for a small group session will have two private sessions initially. During these private sessions we will take a full movement and health history (Initial Assessment) and find out what your goals are for coming to pilates.

Penny's workshops are delivered both face to face in our studio if you are in Sydney, and also live via Zoom if you can't make it to the studio. Participant numbers are kept small, to ensure there is ample time for questions during the workshop. For more information on any of our workshops, please email us on info@modernpilates.com.au.

I have been attending this pilates studio for many years and have always had excellent experience with excellent instructors and today I had really great results with some pain issues I have. Apart from that, I have always found it is excellent for body maintenance, and at a very reasonable price. Can't thank you enough.

I really enjoy my classes here. I start with Mat exercises and then move onto the reformer and other Pilates equipment. I have an individual program. The teachers are great and I’ve got to know the other 3 people in my class really well.
Highly recommended!!

I attended Modern Pilates to assist me with my strength and endurance training required to perform as a professional musician and movement artist. The staff are professional, attentive and passionate about their work which is a number one factor when deciding who to help me with my physical maintenance. I recommend Penny Latey and her team to all my colleagues and friends as the staff are great and the studio setting is beautiful and tranquil with natural light.

I've been going here for 18 years. Penny has seen me through being hit by a car, pregnancy and my most recent problem, 5 prolapsed discs in my lower back! I have bounced back so quickly from all these things because of the excellent traditional pilates method taught here.

I had a torn ligament in my back and was told I needed surgery. Got some advice from Penny , we focused on the muscles around the injury which protected the injury and allowed it to heal. Once healed we focused on the damaged ligament and muscle. exercises and stretches I have a better range than I would have had after surgery and no " cutting" or sling Marvellous stuff thank you for your professionalism
