Pilates is an exercise programme developed by Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1880 - 1967) that has the perfect balance of strength and flexibility. Pilates is a body conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. It targets the deep postural muscles and works by building strength from the inside out.

Mary Zuvela trained with the Body Control Pilates(R) Association in London with Lynne Robinson in 2002/2003. Mary is certified to teach Pilates Matwork classes including Pre and Post Natal Matwork. Mary is also certified to teach clients on the Pilates Reformer Machine, which is available through Private Tuition only at her Studio in Kurwongbah (near Petrie).
For Pilates it is desirable to wear comfortable close fitting clothing, ideally lycra sports clothes are the best material to wear, such as bike pants or leggings with a fitting top, Also please wear socks to class (ankle socks are the best). Wearing this clothing gives the teacher the opportunity to see what your muscles are doing resulting in more benefit to you.
